FTC deepens probe into Twitter’s privacy, security practices – Security

The US Federal Commerce Fee (FTC) is deepening its probe into Twitter’s privateness and information safety practices, Bloomberg News reportedciting sources aware of the matter.

The FTC’s attorneys have questioned two former firm executives up to now month on the social media platform’s compliance with the company’s 2011 consent decree, the report added.

The company has requested the corporate if it has the required sources to adjust to the privateness consent decree, an individual aware of the matter advised Reuters final week.

Twitter in Might agreed to pay a positive of US$150 million (A$224.6 million) to settle allegations that it misused non-public info, and likewise enhance its compliance practices.

Mass layoffs on the agency, which was purchased by billionaire Elon Musk in October for US$44 billion has sparked issues that the social media firm could fail to abide by the settlement.

Twitter laid off roughly 3700 staff in early November in a cost-cutting measure by its new proprietor.

The corporate didn’t instantly reply to Reuters’ request for feedback, whereas the FTC declined to remark.
