The corporate’s UK division has put a video on YouTube outlining the proper technique to say its title.
Whereas Australians and Brits typically name it ‘Hee-un-day’ or ‘Hello-un-day’, and our North American pals typically say ‘Hun-day’, it is really ‘Hyoon-day’.

“Welcome to the daybreak of a brand new Hyundai,” says the blurb accompanying the video.
“2023 marks the daybreak of a brand new Hyundai within the UK. We have taken this chance to interrupt the mould and embrace a brand new chapter for our vehicles and the corporate, together with altering the pronunciation of the model within the UK to convey it consistent with the worldwide group and our Korean heritage.”
UK automotive title Car Magazine requested Hyundai’s administration there in regards to the new model marketing campaign, which kicked off on Boxing Day with the tagline: “‘If you happen to thought you knew our vehicles and the right way to say our title, perhaps it is time to assume once more”.
“Hyundai is a younger, progressive and progressive model which has reworked with nice pace. We’re proudly Korean with actual character and goal,” stated managing director Ashley Andrew.
“… With this marketing campaign, we need to inject a little bit humor and persona to our model which we hope will encourage extra folks to be taught extra about Hyundai.”
Now, I simply have to undo many years of routine mispronunciation…
