Injured Weston out of netball quad series

Star Diamonds defender Joanna Weston has been dominated out of the netball quad sequence in South Africa with a calf damage.

The Australians will tackle South Africa, England and New Zealand in a four-team match in Cape City later this month in a warm-up to the Netball World Cup in July-August on the identical venue.

Sunshine Coast Lightning defender Tara Hinchliffe has been elevated to the Diamonds 2022/23 squad and included within the tour squad of 14 athletes as Weston’s substitute.

“Joanna has a minor calf damage and can proceed her rehab again in Melbourne,” Diamonds coach Stacey Marinkovich mentioned in an announcement.

“Tara has been included within the squad after taking alternatives with the Australian Growth Squad and final 12 months’s Fast5 Netball World Collection staff.

“Tara is a flexible defender, and she’s going to add protection throughout the objective keeper and objective protection positions.”

The quad sequence will run from January 22 to 26.
