Melbourne man dies in ‘shallow water’ next to children in Aire River, Glenaire

A person has died when he disappeared in “shallow water” whereas he was standing with kids at a Victorian river.

The 39-year-old was close to a ship ramp within the Aire River in Glenaire round 10.30am on Tuesday when he received into issue.

Swimmers desperately tried to assist the person and managed to tug him to shore.

Paramedics carried out CPR, however he died on the scene.

Police stated the person was standing in shallow water and was with kids when the incident occurred.

A report shall be ready for the coroner.

The Aire River is situated on the Nice Ocean Highway and is widespread for fishing, swimming and tenting.
