A 6.1 magnitude earthquake has rocked New Zealand, hanging near its capital city of Wellington on Wednesday night.
The highly effective quake began with a jolt and was adopted by about 30 seconds of steady shaking.
It comes after Cyclone Gabrielle ripped through the nationinflicting devastating landslides.

The earthquake struck 50km north-west of Paraparaumu, a city on the North Island, in response to GeoNet.
The quake was reportedly felt by 1000’s of individuals inside an hour of the primary experiences of the incident, which occurred at 7.38pm native time (5.38pm AEST).
