Ex-Fiji leader Frank Bainimarama charged with abuse of office

Fiji’s former prime minister Frank Bainimarama, who led the Pacific island nation for 16 years till narrowly dropping an election in December, has been charged with abuse of workplace.

Fiji’s Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde has sanctioned costs of abuse of workplace in opposition to Mr Bainimarama and suspended police commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho, a press release from the general public prosecutor mentioned on Thursday.

The fees relate to a criticism by the College of South Pacific in 2019 that the 2 had terminated “an energetic police investigation” into the actions of former employees members of the college.
