Aged Care Minister Anika Wells is defending the brand new aged care star ranking system towards criticism it needs to be pulled down, accusing the coalition of attempting to undermine transparency and drag the sector again into “darkness”.
The opposition says the data getting used for the ranking device is out-of-date and has brought on misery for older Australians.
The system ranks aged care suppliers from one to 5, with suppliers given a three-star ranking thought of acceptable, 4 stars listed nearly as good, and two as needing enchancment.
Ms Wells lashed out on the coalition for its criticism, saying they’d not know transparency if “they appeared by a window” and saying the opposition was attempting to take the sector again “into darkness”.
“The info is completely not inaccurate,” she instructed the ABC on Tuesday.

The aged care minister stated greater than 60 per cent of the information used for the ranking system was impartial, and included surveying aged care dwelling residents to report their experiences and gauge the standard of take care of specific amenities.
