At least seven dead as avalanche hits tourism spot in north-eastern India

An avalanche in India’s north-eastern state of Sikkim has killed no less than seven individuals, with a number of extra feared trapped, the Indian military says.

An ANI video confirmed native residents crowding round rescue employees and filming movies on cellphones on the website of the accident.

Hundreds of vacationers flock to Sikkim, also called the “Land of Mystic Splendour”, yearly.
