Australian woman killed, daughter injured in car crash in Sri Lanka

An Australian lady has been killed and her daughter injured when a car drove over a cliff in Sri Lanka.

Sydney resident Prakash Sharita Devi, 67, and two different folks had been touring in a automotive in Hemmathagama, 30km southwest of Kandy, when the car went over the cliff, based on the Tribune India.

The motive force, a Sri Lankan resident, and a 30-year-old lady believed to be Devi’s daughter, had been injured and brought to hospital.

Preliminary investigations by police counsel the motive force could have misplaced management whereas touring at excessive speeds, inflicting the car to run off the highway and over the cliff.

The Division of International Affairs and Commerce was offering consular help to the Devi household.

“Consular officers from the Excessive Fee in Colombo are supporting one other Australian lady who was injured within the accident,” a division spokesperson stated.

“We ship our deepest condolences to the household.”
