A former Greens senate candidate has been attacked by a person with a home made weapon whereas working in a western Victorian state forest.
Sissy Austin, 29, was working by the Lal Lal state forest on Saturday afternoon when the attacker knocked her unconscious with a rock tied to a stick.
Police say the attacker was believed to be a Caucasian male carrying black denims, a cap and no footwear or shirt.
After Ms Austin regained consciousness, she ran 4 kilometers again to her automotive and referred to as the police. Ambulance companies then took her to Ballarat hospital for a CT scan.
She suffered non-life-threatening facial accidents, police mentioned.
Ms Austin, a Djab Wurrung girl and Indigenous rights’ campaigner, was a senate candidate for the Greens in final yr’s federal election.
She has been recovering since returning house from the hospital on Sunday.
“I’ll come again sturdy and will not be sitting in any unhappiness or worry,” Ms Austin wrote on her Fb web page.
“For now simply cuddling my canine.”
