Heirisson Island stand-off: WA Police arrest man driving erratically, unconfirmed reports of a firearm

A person has been arrested after a stand-off with police at Heirisson Island that triggered main visitors delays on Thursday night time.

WA Police stated the driving force of a car was noticed by police driving erratically about 9pm within the East Perth precinct and drove off when approached by officers.

Police stated the person was later discovered on the reserve at Heirisson Island and brought into custody for questioning.

There have been unconfirmed studies that the person had a firearm in his possession.

The Causeway was closed for at the least 45 minutes, between Hay St and Nice Japanese Hwy, inflicting main visitors points across the metropolis. It was partially opened to vehicles touring from Albany Freeway about 10.10pm.

Police carried out a search of the encircling bushland earlier than leaving the world simply after 10.30pm.

There have been no studies of anybody being injured.
