A highly dangerous chemical has spilled out on to a roadway after a forklift pierced a metal drum in Sydney’s southwest.
Firefighters had been referred to as to a transport enterprise on Canterbury Rd close to Mavis St in Revesby at 10.30am after a metal drum containing 200 liters of Toluene Diisocyanate (TDI) spilled.

About 100 liters of the damaging chemical spilled onto the roadway, in keeping with Hearth and Rescue NSW.
TDI is used within the manufacturing of supplies similar to foam and rubber and will be extraordinarily hazardous to folks if not correctly managed.
Hearth and Rescue NSW crews, together with scientific specialists, HAZMAT specialists and over 20 firefighters, are at present working to clear the world of the chemical.
“The groups have been sporting the best degree of chemical safety as they work to include and get better the spill, and decontaminate the world,” Hearth and Rescue NSW mentioned in a press release.
“The clean-up is now in its last phases.”
There are at present no stories of sickness or damage in relation to the incident.
