Greater than 200 roosters have been rescued by RSPCA investigators after a raid on a Victorian property busted open what’s alleged to be an unlawful cockfighting ring.
The RSPCA eliminated the animals on Friday morning following a tip off about an upcoming unlawful cockfighting occasion to be held on the property at Melton, west of Melbourne.
Following the execution of a warrant, RSPCA inspectors eliminated greater than 200 roosters which they allege had been owned and used for cockfighting.

The RSPCA stated vets who inspected the animals discovered they didn’t have entry to water, had been being saved in cramped and unsanitary situations, and had been mutilated for the aim of cockfighting.
“Cockfighting is an abhorrent and inherently merciless exercise that results in the extreme struggling of the roosters used on this bloodsport,” the RSPCA’s Lisa Calleja stated.
“The roosters at this location had been extremely aggressive and plenty of had been saved in cages with out entry to meals or water.”
The RSPCA stated the raid represented a disruption of the alleged animal preventing ring.
Below Victorian regulation, offenders discovered responsible of animal cruelty withstand two years in jail and a $92,000 effective.
