The estranged spouse of controversial union boss John Setka has been charged with plotting to kill him.
Former lawyer Emma Walters was interviewed by police on Wednesday and charged with incitement to commit conspiracy to homicide the Victorian secretary of the Building, Forestry, Mining and Power Union.
Victoria Police stated in an announcement despatched to AAP on Wednesday night {that a} girl had been charged “after she allegedly tried to accumulate a firearm and made threats to kill a person earlier this month”.
“Investigators executed a search warrant at a residential tackle in Footscray on Wednesday the place they seized a cell phone,” the assertion stated.
It stated a 46-year-old Footscray girl was charged with incitement to commit conspiracy to homicide, incitement to accumulate a firearm and making threats to kill.
When contacted, Walters informed The Age newspaper: “I deny that allegation.
“I have been handcuffed at this time, I’ve handled the allegations which were put to me,” she stated, sustaining she had solely taken steps to guard herself.
Mr Setka and his estranged spouse have been concerned in a long-running authorized battle involving allegations he dedicated acts of home violence and breached intervention orders.
Walters is suing the Victorian authorities over claims the police failed to guard her.
Mr Setka has denied allegations of home violence however in 2019 was convicted of harassing Walters and breaching the orders.
Walters has been bailed to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Courtroom on April 5.
