A collision between two riders on the enduring Finke Monitor close to Alice Springs has claimed the lifetime of a 27-year-old man.
The crash occurred at round 4pm on Friday on the distant filth street the place the annual Finke Desert Race is held.
The 27-year-old was driving a quad bike when he collided with a 24-year-old male bike rider.
Paramedics declared the quad bike rider lifeless on the scene whereas the bike rider was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital in a severe situation.
He has since been flown interstate for remedy.
