Scientists plan to deploy robotics, genetics, environmental DNA, pheromones and pure predators within the battle towards the devastating crown-of-thorns starfish.
The Nice Barrier Reef Basis hopes to unleash the next-generation instruments to foretell, detect and reply to lethal outbreaks of coral-eating starfish throughout the reef.
The proposals to guard the corals are amongst a $9.eight million Crown-of-Thorns Starfish Management Innovation Program developed with the Australian Institute of Marine Science, CSIRO, James Cook dinner College and The College of Queensland.
