Heavy rains submerged villages, cities and highways within the Visayas and Mindanao areas on Christmas Day, forcing greater than 50,000 individuals to flee their properties.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr stated he could go to the stricken areas to evaluate the scenario after his scheduled journey to China from January three to five.
