A person has been taken to hospital with severe accidents after being bitten by a crocodile three times whereas spearfishing 300km north of Cairns.
The 44-year-old was within the water at Archer Level in Cooktown round 1pm on Saturday when he was dragged down by a four-and-a-half meter crocodile.

Paramedic Valerie Noble advised 7NEWS the person initially tried to fend off the animal along with his speargun however was unsuccessful.

The person was bitten thrice earlier than he managed to free himself and swim to shore.
The fisherman was airlifted to Cairns College Hospital with head, leg and shoulder accidents.

On Tuesday 65-year-old Manfred Van Eckeren was sleeping on a beach north of Port Douglas when he was bitten.
