Queensland police officer under investigation for allegedly headbutting boy while off-duty

A Queensland police officer has been filmed allegedly headbutting a teenage boy, in an incident the state’s top cop has described as showing to be “fully inappropriate”.

7NEWS has been provided with greater than two minutes of footage from the tense and expletive-laden confrontation between the officer, who was off-duty on the time, and a gaggle of younger folks in Dalby on the weekend.

Through the confrontation, the officer headbutts the boy whereas he has his arms within the air, the footage reveals.

Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll has seen the footage and stated an investigation can be performed.

She stated she didn’t know what led as much as the confrontation.

“I’ve not seen what occurred previous to that,” Carroll stated on Monday.

“However on what I’ve seen, these actions are fully inappropriate.”

Within the footage, the officer is seen strolling in the direction of a gaggle whereas asking, “what badge have I obtained proper now, c***?”, and “which one in every of you c**** stated that?”.

There may be then pushing and swearing between the officer and members of the group.

The officer could be heard being labeled a “pig” and “c***” by folks off-camera.

“You have obtained three seconds to stroll away or I am going to headbutt you,” the officer says to one of many group members.

Because the boy and the officer come head to head, the boy places his arms up earlier than he’s allegedly headbutted by the officer.

The altercation ends when on-duty cops arrive and break up the events.

Carroll stated the officer may face punishment.

“I’ve spoken to the Assistant Commissioner on the Moral Requirements Command,” she stated.

7NEWS has confirmed the officer has since been stood down pending an investigation.
