Sakkari wins ‘ugly’ in WTA Indian Wells three-setter

Seventh-seeded Maria Sakkari of Greece stored her WTA Indian Wells 1000 title hopes alive by battling again to beat Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina 3-6 6-2 6-4.

Sakkari drew Kalinina to the online with a drop shot after which fired a backhand winner down the road on match level to finish the comeback.
