A South Australian truck driver has been charged with a number of animal cruelty offenses after he allegedly ran over and killed dozens of goats in north west NSW.
The 51-year-old drove his truck by a highway closure signal and into floodwaters on the Kamilaroi Freeway, between Bourke and Brewarrina, final week, NSW Police allege.
Later that night time he contacted emergency providers when his truck grew to become caught and was taken to Bourke Hospital to be assessed.
The next day, 78 lifeless goats have been found alongside a 2km stretch of the Kamilaroi Freeway.
Eight different goats have been discovered alive, however have been so significantly injured they needed to be euthanized, police stated.
Police issued the truck driver with a courtroom attendance discover on Thursday for a number of driving and animal cruelty offences.
The 51-year-old is due in Bourke Native Court docket on February 23.
