Queensland Constable Matthew Arnold heartbreakingly foreshadowed his premature loss of life, telling his household he would by no means actually depart them.

Talking on behalf of the Arnold household, Senior Sergeant Laura Harriss learn out letters written between Arnold and his dad and mom when he was in Yr 12.

Queensland police chaplain Jeff Baills stated the capturing that led to Arnold and McCrow’s loss of life was an act of “absolute evil”.

“It was abhorrent. It was not of God. It was absolute evil. This barbaric act has shocked our group, and it is irreparably broken the Arnold household and the McCrow household.

“Rachel and Matthew have been simply doing their job that day, and the McCrow and the Arnold households paid the final word sacrifice.
“And whereas Rachel’s and Matthew’s lives have been taken in probably the most cowardly approach, the occasions of December 12 will name us along with the resolve of police and group to uphold the larger good of justice, of freedom and of household.
Courageous officers honored
McCrow and Arnold have been bestowed a number of awards together with the QPS Valor Award – an honor for officers who “carry out an act of outstanding bravery in hazardous circumstances” – by Carroll.
