Australia’s weak consumer confidence boosts case for rate pause

Australia’s shopper confidence held close to a 30-year low as households fretted over mounting price of dwelling pressures and additional coverage tightening, bolstering the case for the Reserve Financial institution to carry rates of interest subsequent month.

Shopper sentiment was unchanged at 78.5 in March, a Westpac survey confirmed on Tuesday, the second straight month of extraordinarily weak readings.
