St John of God Hospital: Family fear Perth woman may have suffered brain damage in botched surgery

There are fears a younger lady could have mind harm following one other surgical procedure bungle at a St John of God hospital.

The affected person was present process a routine gynecological process at St John of God Mt Lawley when an artery was by chance severed, 9 Information reported.

The girl suffered excessive blood loss and required an emergency transfusion.

She was transferred to Royal Perth Hospital in vital situation at about 4pm on Friday.

The girl remained within the intensive care unit on Sunday evening in a secure situation.

Her household mentioned they worry she could have mind harm.

St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital chief govt Vanessa Unwin mentioned a full investigation can be undertaken and the matter was being handled with the “utmost seriousness”.

“A scientific incident occurred…leading to an antagonistic end result for the affected person,” she mentioned.

“We suggested the household instantly. It’s clearly a tough time for them and we stay involved.

“Affected person security is our highest precedence.”
